Introduction
In the 1980's and 1990's a more advanced terpolyaramid was developed and put into production made from three monomers, two monomers forming PPTA which are the same as para-aramid.Khimvolokno Scientific – Production Association (now the All-Russian Scientific-Research Institute of Polymer Fibres) produced it and later T'ver (Tvervolokno now closed) produced Armos®. The main features of this fibre were long life time under the load (more than 15 years), high modulus and was produced without any sizing.
Chemical Structure
Armos® is an aromatic heterocyclic co-polyamide of principal chemical constitution:Armos® is a random copolyamide of PPTA and PBI (CP-PTA/BI).

Applications
- Strength of Armos® yarn is 20–50% higher than that of other aramid and related yarns and glass yarns is used as HM-HT fibre.
- It is used as fire-resistant material.
- It is used in radial tyres.
- As a composite in aerospace industry.
- As tyres of racing cars.
